Provincial universities have a great scale and great influence in our higher education system. It is the key to strengthen discipline construction and improve discipline governance ability to improve their levels. It is found that discipline governance of provincial universities is affected by multiple factors such as school running history and school running resources, which are mainly manifested in the confusion of stakeholders of discipline construction on the effectiveness of governance, the doubts on the feasibility of governance model and the anxiety on the diversity of external pressures of governance. To promote the modernization of discipline governance system and governance capacity of provincial universities, the discipline construction should adhere to sustainable development and break through ideological difficulties; pay attention to the complexity of system and improve the ability of discipline governance; enhance discipline core competitiveness and form discipline governance culture.

An overall survey and analysis has been conducted on the current situation of the distribution of majors at local colleges and universities in ethnic minority regions selected from Gansu and Qinghai provinces and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region where there are a large population of minorities. The aim of the study is to look into the structure of majors at local ethnic colleges and universities, thus further improving their abilities to serve local social development. The study has found that the specialty setup of Chinese universities in ethnic areas has the following features: comprehensive classes of subjects, high rate of coverage of significant majors, less in the number of majors, a small scale in major and high repetition rate of majors. The unbalanced specialty setup, the lack of internal drive of specialty setup, the lack of valid connection between the structure of majors and industrial structure, all of these restrict the quality of the specialty setup of universities in ethnic areas. Therefore, the paper suggests four ways to improve the arrangement of the specialty setup and enhance the connotation of the construction of the specialty setup as follows: to construct the system of making decisions independently at local ethnic universities, to build the system of macro control of the government, to introduce the competition mechanism and enhance students’ participation.

How the team supervision affects the interdisciplinary training quality of doctoral students has not been determined. Based on the analysis of the questionnaire data of 22 382 doctoral graduates in China, it is found that: multidisciplinary team supervision has a significant positive effect on doctoral students’ improvement of basic academic ability and interdisciplinary ability, the effect is greater than that of single-discipline team supervision, and has been verified in studenst from different disciplines; the team supervision of single-discipline only cannot improve the basic academic ability of humanities students, and only has a significant positive effect on the improvement of interdisciplinary ability of engineering and medical students; among students whose dissertations topic are interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary team supervision show a more postive effect, however, the coverage of multidisciplinary team supervision needs to be expanded among them. In order to effectively improve the quality of interdisciplinary training of doctoral students, institution should strengthen the multidisciplinary team supervision system construction, urge more students to try interdisciplinary research, and provide multidisciplinary team supervision for students who had already chose interdisciplinary topic in dissertation research.

Based on the “National Survey on the Quality of Education Doctor Training” in 2022, this paper uses binary logistic regression to screen out discriminant factors that have a significant impact on the delayed graduation of education doctors variables. Then, Fisher linear discriminant method is used to randomly select 70% samples to construct a discriminant model, and another 30% samples are used to test the model. The results show that discriminant model for the delayed graduation of Ed.D. with a prediction accuracy of 88%, in addition, it has high robustness. The main factors affecting the general postponement of the graduation of Ed.D. are individual factors, including gender, learning time and academic efficacy, and it relative contribution accounts for 54.63%. The secondary reason is the university factors, including communication frequency, admission method and work time, and it relative contribution accounts for 45.37% in total. Therefore, in order to alleviate the problem of delayed, the individual of Ed.D., training institutions and working units should strengthen the cooperation, strengthen the academic planning, optimize the training mode, build the academic early warning mechanism, and conclude a “interest community”.

China’s Special Admission Policy for rural and poor areas has increased the ratio of disadvantaged students gaining access to high-quality higher education, but there is a gap of empirical research on whether the policy affects the education outcome of the disadvantaged groups. This study, based on the in-depth interviews with 14 graduates enrolled under preferential admission policies, explored graduation choice and its influencing factors of undergraduates admitted under the Special Admission Policy. The study found that there was a large gap between the graduation expectation and graduation destination of these students, and the failure of graduation expectation was closely related to the consciousness and behavior of career planning. The three factors that hinder career planning were parenting style allowing children to grow up naturally, fuzzy self-awareness and biased goal orientation. The study suggested that colleges should pay attention to career planning education of students recruited under the Special Admission Policy, in order to overcome developmental difficulties caused by their weak family capital and help them to gain better school and graduation performance, and ultimately promote fairness in higher education outcome.

The interdisciplinary compound talents training is the common pursuit of the market, universities and individuals. Based on the theory of student development, the research analyzes the interdisciplinary learning behavior of undergraduates from 35 universities. The results show that the learning ways are interdisciplinary elective courses and the number of ways is two or three, and the content is mainly humanities and social sciences, showing the characteristics of “more small span, less big span”. Gender, learning style, development planning, institution support, professional employment prospects, attitude toward majors, discipline categories, and family economic and cultural capital all have different influences on interdisciplinary learning behavior, and learning style, institution support and family capital are important factors. Therefore, students should exert subjective initiative to develop a good learning style. Schools should provide diversified resources to optimize environmental support. Families should transform and accumulate capital stock, improve cultural atmosphere and consolidate material foundation. Researcher should pay attention to the issues that family capital and higher education process equity.

The purpose of implementing the dynamic adjustment mechanism of “Double First-Class” construction is to stimulate the endogenous motivation and development vitality of universities and disciplines, and promote the continuous improvement of the development of universities and disciplines. However, in practice, the problems of evaluation standards, practice cognition dislocation and support system which in the dynamic adjustment mechanism of “Double First-Class” construction have some negative effect on the strategic implementation and goal realization of the “Double First-Class” construction. Therefore, on the basis of correctly understanding the connotation, positioning and concept of the dynamic adjustment mechanism of “Double First-Class” construction, it should improve its mechanism design from many aspects such as constraint condition, selection methods, selection evaluation, effectiveness evaluation and adjustment methods, and establish a diversified and healthy third-party evaluation ecology to ensure the effective operation of the dynamic adjustment mechanism of “Double First-Class” construction.

Using the “academic arena contest” as a metaphor for academic career, it emphasizes the construction of academic identity throughout the process of arena setting, access, attack/offense behavior and advancement. The study adopts qualitative research methods, conducting semi-structured interviews with 80 faculty members of research universities. The findings show that academic identity is a highly-complicated, multi-faceted concept comprising professional identity, occupational identity, relational identity and individual identity. As a cognitive schema, those four types of sub-identity exist in a hierarchy of priorities and influence faculties’ academic behaviors through information mechanism and attention-seeking mechanism. It leads to their varied cognitive understandings, career focuses and psychological experiences of the arena setting, resulting in different strategies as proactiveness, responsiveness, image-building or balance-seeking.

Design-Based Engineering Learning (DBEL) is an important learning mode in the field of engineering education research. At present, the related research is still in the concept discussion stage, and there is a lack of measurement tools with certain reliability and validity. In order to construct a theoretical model of DBEL, this paper firstly developed a multi-dimensional characteristics including design practice, interactive reflection, knowledge integration and circular iteration based on the grounded theory method. Secondly, the content validity of multi-dimensional characteristics was tested empirically through exploratory factor analysis, and a measuring scale containing 17 items was developed. Finally, the confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation model were used to establish the second order and four factor optimal measurement model. The multi-dimensional characteristics of DBEL and its measurement method constructed in this research aim to provide theoretical support for engineering learning research in China.

The revised draft of the Teachers’ Law adds the anomie clause of teachers’ ethics, which is a Chinese-style educational system innovation to implement the fundamental task of establishing morality and cultivating people. However, it is still unclear how to integrate the anomie of teachers’ ethics into the institutional measures and responsibility system of the Teachers’ Law. As the most important and special subject of legality, colleges and universities have a systematic dilemma in implementing the applicable anomie clauses of teachers’ ethics and establishing corresponding treatment standards. We need to start with the vertical and horizontal systems of our system norms, place the “legislation” of the anomie of college teachers’ ethics in the third type of interaction between national law and social law, jump out of the shackles of the traditional dual structure model of public and private law and related theories, and identify the disciplinary measures of colleges and universities as “untyped” administrative processing behavior, which is actionable. Then, the “legislation” standard of colleges and universities should be constructed from the following aspects: defining the subject authority of colleges and universities with “co-location reservation”, promoting the legitimacy of college disciplinary actions with “discretionary benchmark”, shaping the due process of college disciplinary actions with “comprehensive justice”, and comprehensively utilizing the multiple dispute resolution mechanism to improve the effectiveness of college teachers’ relief.

Cultivation of talents on foreign-related arbitration is the categorized exploration for cultivation of foreign-related legal talents, which marks the formation on the new pattern of cultivation of foreign-related legal talents. Higher education institutions play a significant role in the process. The characteristics of foreign-related arbitration determine the target characteristics of talents on foreign-related arbitration, which are professionalism, serviceability and flexibility. The dilemma for cultivation of talents on foreign-related arbitration is that colleges and universities do not grant international arbitration an exact curriculum status, and the collaborative cultivation mode between universities and arbitration industry is still not in depth. It is out of step with the demand of cultivation of talents on foreign-related arbitration. First, the universities should use available platforms to ensure the status of international arbitration in the curriculum system for undergraduates to lay a foundation for professionalism. Second, the arbitration moot competition should be applied as a practical teaching strategy to help students to pursue serviceability. At last, universities and arbitration industry should make efforts to truly realize the collaborative cultivation both in the aspects of lessons and practice, then arbitration industry should play advantages on alternative dispute resolution mechanism to strengthen students’ skill on flexibility.

The construction and evaluation of “Double High-Level Project” is an important step in leading China’s vocational education to achieve high-quality development in the new era. At present, the medium-term construction targets of each construction unit are basically achieved. However, there are still some challenges in the direction of provincial mechanism innovation, institutional characteristics strengthening and evaluation-oriented breakthrough. In the new era, the “Double High-Level Project” should play the important mission of building a “model” for the development of China’s higher vocational institutions, taking on the role of a “leader” in the reform and development of vocational education, building an “ecology” for the integration of vocational education into economic and social development, and building a “brand” for vocational education services with Chinese characteristics, with the focus on the final construction of the “Double High-Level Project” by deepening the connotation of the ten tasks. In terms of evaluation, we should take the promotion of institutional autonomy as the evaluation guide of higher vocational institutions under the “Double High-Level Project”, strengthen the evaluation of the construction effectiveness of each construction unit, enrich the evaluation channels of each stakeholder, and form diagnostic evaluation results for the future development of higher vocational education.

The type and characteristics of vocational education and its talent training objectives determine the basic direction and requirements of its teacher team construction. At present, the connotation of the “double-qualified” teacher team is deepening. The connotation of the “double-qualified” teacher is gradually changing from the “double-qualified” ability and quality that focus on individual teachers to the “double-qualified” quality structured teacher team that focuses on cross-border integration. Among them, the nature of “community” is the core characteristic of the “double-qualified” teacher team, “structure” is the organizational structure characteristic of the “double-qualified” teacher team, and “specialization” is the attribute characteristic of the “double-qualified” teacher team. The project based “double-qualified” teacher team is an innovation in the construction of vocational education teachers’ teaching team. Exploring effective ways of team building, such as taking school enterprise cooperation as the main principle, taking high-quality education as the common vision goal, relying on joint construction projects to form structured teams, building school enterprise cooperation platforms to support team development, improving the operation system to ensure the effective operation of the team, improving project performance management and assessment mechanisms to improve the quality of team development, will provide useful practical reference for the construction of the “double-qualified” teacher team in vocational colleges in China.
