Liberal arts and science, or humanities and social sciences and natural sciences constitute the overall human knowledge in a close interaction. China, with a history of 5 000 years of civilization, has a fine tradition of paying close attention to humanistic knowledge and education since ancient times. In fact, it has accumulated rich and profound humanistic resources and valuable experience in the production of humanistic knowledge. It is discovered in this paper that China has generally formed the basic law or local logic of knowledge production of humanities and social sciences, that is, it is characterized by integration in terms of the content and methods of knowledge production, by collectivity in terms of the subject of knowledge production, by centralization in terms of the purpose and direction of knowledge production. The localization of liberal arts knowledge production has important enlightenment and reference value for the current construction, reform and development of new liberal arts.

Discipline theory and knowledge system are the basis of professional curriculum, talent training scheme design and teaching content establishment. They are the core of university development. The existing western financial theories are not enough to explain the practical achievements of China. The construction of discipline theory lags behind the development of practice, and can not provide sufficient theoretical support for the training of financial talents in the new era. This reality forces us to think about the theoretical construction and practical path of finance and economics. The theoretical proposition of strengthening the construction of financial and economics discipline is to consolidate the guiding position and theoretical paradigm of Marxism, create new categories and theories of China’s economic practice, absorb the beneficial achievements of western economics, expand the subject areas and promote cross integration, so as to realize methodological innovation and tool revolution. The realistic path to strengthen the construction of finance and economics discipline is to coordinate and promote the top-level design and micro subject practice, give priority to the construction of discipline talent team, and jointly promote discipline theoretical research, curriculum reform and textbook construction.

The socialization of academic profession is not only a process, but also a state; Academic professional identity is one of the results of the Socialization of academic profession, which can reflect the effect of the Socialization of academic profession. Based on the perspective of socialization, the study analyzed the influencing factors of postdoctoral Academic professional identity from four aspects: background characteristics, organizational support, tutor guidance and self-cognition. Chi-square test showed that there were significant differences among postdoctoral students of different gender, work field and type. Multiple logistic regression found that career promotion opportunities had a significant impact, organizational support had little impact, and tutor guidance had no significant impact, the personal socialization stage represented by self-cognition is the key factor affecting postdoctoral academic professional identity. This paper analyzes the differences of academic professional identity from the aspects of different types of postdoctors and national differences, and finds that the key factors affecting academic professional identity are different. Most postdoctors in China are university postdoctors, which indicates that compared with western countries, China’s postdoctors are more of a reserve of teachers, and their mobility is relatively weak. The types of postdoctors need to be expanded.

The opinions of master’s students on institutional training are an important basis for improving the training environment of professional degree talents. Based on the survey data of full-time professional degree master’s students in two universities, from the perspective of university educational power theory, this paper uses empirical research methods to analyze the opinions and needs of professional degree master’s students for college training. The results show that: first, the opinions of professional degree master’s students on college training mainly focus on the following four aspects: the lack of professional internship and practice opportunities; professional and academic master’s students failed to achieve classified training; insufficient attention to professional degrees; courses selection, tuition fees and scholarship system need to be improved. Second, in terms of disciplinary differences, humanities disciplines have stronger demands for internship and practice; while science disciplines demand categorized training and regulations; engineering disciplines have the lowest demands for equal treatment. Based on the above findings, this paper puts forward some countermeasures to improve the training environment of professional master’s students.

The postgraduate academic management system is based on postgraduate management regulations and academic standards formulated to comprehensively improve the quality of postgraduate training. Because the current management system ignores the subject status of graduate students, the academic rights and interests of graduate students face a triple dilemma in the implementation process. It includes the academic management system’s implementation that induces the academic research to deviate from the utilitarian orientation, the conflict between the academic freedom of the academic training management and the rigid regulations in the implementation, and the paradox between the supervisor responsibility system and the administrative management dominance in the academic management system. How to achieve the unity of subject and object of graduate student training and the balance of rigidity and flexibility in management requires the establishment of a value-oriented rule and system based on “foster virtue through education”, a “people-oriented” implementation mechanism, and the establishment and improvement of a complaint and protection mechanism for students’ academic rights and interests. And the rule of law academic management system.

The separation of administration, university-running and evaluation is a primary strategy in the deployment of the deepening comprehensive reform of higher education management system in the new era. Based on an analysis of its background and motivation, it can be claimed that the separation of administration, university-running and evaluation is the new normalcy of the higher education management system, and a continuation and deepening of the reform policy of the separation of administration and university-running, laying the foundation for the modernization of the higher education governance system and governance capacity. Equipped with public governance theory, this article analyzes the theoretical connotation and power nature of the two key terms in the field of higher education, namely “administration, university-running and evaluation” and “separation”, based on which a triangular power model for separation of administration, university-running and evaluation is constructed in line with the logic of reform. Besides, this paper illustrates the framework of public governance and the essentials of the separation of administration, university-running and evaluation in higher education in terms of the governance subjects, power base, governance objectives and governance methods, followed by a discussion of the basic conditions and paths of transformation of the public governance practice of separation of administration, university-running and evaluation.

International institutional overlap has become the structural feature of global higher education governance, which includes the formal system with UNESCO as the core, the informal system represented by private foundations, the new international insititution with the OECD as the main body, and the American-style international higher education system trying to promote by USA. The needs for multilateral cooperation, the complexity of issues and the governance limits of UNESCO determine the inevitable overlap of international higher education institution. While played a positive role during the COVID-19 pandemic, it has also faced many challenges. Therefore, global higher education governance should uphold the concept of a human community with a shared future, give play to the positive role of NGO, and accelerate the innovation of governance mechanism, responding to the crisis brought by institutional overlap. As an important member of global higher education governance, China should work with the international community to reshape the governance system in institutional overlap and build a global higher education community.

Under the background of comprehensively promoting the “administering a country according to law” and the construction of “new liberal arts” in China, the cultivation of compound outstanding legal talents is an important mission of legal education in the new era. The interdisciplinary and cross-boundary advantages in knowledge, ability and thinking of compound outstanding legal talents are the important goals of the construction of “new liberal arts” and the cultivation of outstanding legal talents. In view of the problems in the cultivation of compound outstanding legal talents in China, such as the difficulty to break the disciplinary barriers between specialties, the low degree of professional compounding, postgraduate entrance examination and employment policy barriers for double-degrees, and insufficient educational system and practical teaching. This paper proposes a series of suggestions for science and engineering colleges. They should make full use of its advantages in law and the depth of the characteristic discipline cross, the promotion of “double degree and double certificate” education mode, promote law dual degree and second-degree admissions and training system, encourage the establishment of doctoral programs for the cultivation of compound outstanding legal talents in fields that are urgently needed by the country, use the “SiKua” training model for reference, and explore a new mechanism for cultivating compound outstanding legal talents.

As the backbone of higher education system, the importance of research universities dedicated to social services is self-evident. Based on the theory of educational ecosystem and the case of five first-class research-oriented universities, five key dimensions as well as their constituent elements and operational logic have been identified, which include social service objectives, practice carriers, organizations, conditional resources and institutional norms. The social service of research-oriented universities is a dynamic and complex system composed of multi-elements’ interaction with the characteristics of goal-oriented, highly systematic and collaborative innovative. Unlike the “third function” or “terminal service”, the social service of research-oriented universities emphasizes “scholarship of engagement”during the process. In order to serve the society with high quality, the research-oriented universities should undertake the responsibility of cultivating social service subjects actively, adjust their paradigm of scientific research proactively, dilute the “one-off” service offering mode gradually, and explore the social service route for humanities and social sciences. Sticking to the belief of doing research rooted in the land of China, the research-oriented universities should implement the philosophy of empowering our country by developing higher education, and make contribution to the major national strategy and regional development.

Based on the data of 1 013 questionnaires on the career growth of young faculty in research universities, and combing current study on the theory of person-environment fit and academic career development of faculty, this research analyzes the influence path of personal characteristics and organizational environment on career growth of young faculty in research universities, and explores the mediating role of person-environment fit. The major findings are as follows: Personal characteristics such as gender, identity, international study abroad experience, and work engagement have significant influences on young faculty’s career growth. Organizational environment includes macro environment (including university prestige and type, academic relationships) and meso environment (including organizational support, academic evaluation system), which have significant influences on young faculty’s career growth. Moreover, person-environment fit has a complete and partial mediating effect. This research further discussed the gains of identity and the loss of non-research activities engagement to the young faculty’s career growth, and the questioning of the rationality of “first degree discrimination”. The above findings verify the applicability of the theory of person-environment fit in the research of young faculty’s career growth in research universities, and confirm the positive effect of a good environment on the young faculty’s career growth.

As one of the important modes for the reform and development of mixed-ownership economy and vocational education, the mixed-ownership school-running of higher vocational colleges has a public-private conflict between the public service attribute of public welfare and the attribute of profitable enterprise private ownership, which makes it full of conflicts and contradictions in profit demand, management authority and development goals. Through the relevant enlightenment in the development of British higher education(the clear distinction between commercial profit and non-commercial profit, a reasonable governance model that abides by the university’s constitution, and the separation between funders and ownership), we can establish a development path to resolve conflicts and contradictions by formulating policies related to running a school with mixed-ownership at the national level, sorting out the internal governance mechanism of running a school with mixed-ownership, and steadily advancing the pilot reform of mixed-ownership of secondary colleges.
